Kelsey and I met up for brunch on Saturday (Trouble + Outerlands = a winning weekend combo ). After browsing through Black Bird we decided to walk to Golden Gate Park. It was such a beautiful day in the Outer Sunset... so sunny. Everyone was out having a good time. We saw the windmills up close, Kelsey did a little foraging, and I actually carried my DSLR. Saturdays are 💯

We had New Years' Eve brunch down by the water with my friend Micah after church.
Read Morescenes from the ferry building
Today the city was so beautifully clear and crisp (in contrast to last Sunday's gloominess) and as it was also the first Sunday in December I decided to venture down to the Ferry Building after church.
Maybe it's because my family seems to always end up at the Ferry Building on Christmas Eve, or maybe it's because the greenery and the lights and the general vibes this time of year make it seem so holiday-ish, but I associate the Ferry Building with Christmas and so a walk through seemed like the thing to do today. I also felt like being near the water.

Well I'm horribly behind on blogging, but that's nothing new. Since I last shared photos in this space, there's been another LA trip, an Oregon trip, a Monterey-ish trip, and some more pretty great weekends in the Bay Area. I'll hopefully get around to sorting/sharing scenes from those first three soon, but these photos today are from the most recent weekend.

Our last morning down south was actually spent in Malibu. We woke up, packed up, braved some Monday morning traffic on our way to the coast, and were rewarded with the most delicious breakfast at Malibu Farm Cafe. Food and coffee, with friends, on a pier, over the ocean, on a Monday morning? Yes, please.

Sunday in LA was so nice. We took it slower, played things by ear. We had a long brunch at The Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills before heading to church. I loved being able to visit Reality LA!

Last month I got invited to tag along on a trip to LA with two of my friends. They'd already booked a hotel room and pretty much mapped out the places they wanted to go- all I had to do was say yes, send some money for my portion of the hotel, and ask for one day off from work. I did all three, woke up much too early on a Saturday morning, and off we went.
Read Moreliz's blush shower
Liz had the cutest blush shower this summer, right before her incredible wedding*. We talked and laughed and had an after-dark dance party on the grass (no photographic evidence of that part though...).
*Exhibit B (tell me she doesn't have the most adorable nephews and niece...)

Sunday was chill.
Pastries and coffee at Thorough Bread.
Church.
Lunch at Beachside.
A relaxing chat with friends in their living room.
A walk to Andytown (for an afternoon pick-me-up, you know?).
A trip up to the top of the observation tower at de Young.
And a very lively drive home thanks to the "Songs to Sing in the Car" playlist on Spotify.
Such fun.

Read Moreanother trip around the sun
Folks, we've successfully made another trip around the sun. Some of us have had easier trips than others. Some of our trips have been absolutely nuts. For the past couple of years I've not been sorry to see the current year go. I know that January 1 is technically just another day. There's nothing inherently special about it. But it still feels like a fresh start, and I like those.

Friday night was incredible. I took off work right after lunch and drove to Berkeley, killed some time, and biked to dinner with my lovely friend Micah. After a leisurely outdoor meal (and a basil italian soda) at Elmwood, we walked up to the Greek Theater for a concert.

Food52 publishes a weekly post called "A List of Things We Like this Week," #happylist. I always enjoy reading them (because: LISTS <3), and this morning at work I was inspired to make my own list of things that brought me joy this past week (Mon-Sun). The exercise took me less than 5 minutes and did actually make me feel quite happy.
I'm thinking I should make this a new Monday morning habit. What's on your happy list?
saturday at 50mm
I've been working full-time now for a month plus a few days. It's no joke. The weekend comes and goes before I know it, every week. Today, I woke up two hours later than I have to on weekdays. I drank coffee. I played guitar. I ate waffles. Then I decided to head to Modesto and do fun things I haven't done in a while (and shop at Trader Joe's).

This past Sunday, my brother and I plus our two friends, Liz + Beau, skipped town and traded the valley for a much needed day in the city. It was the most perfect, refreshing day. Here are some scenes :)
Read Morea bit of berkeley, a bit of sf
Last Tuesday I introduced my aunt to two of my favorite things: Cheese Board pizza and Bi-Rite ice cream. Originally the plan was just to go to Cheese Board and head home soon after. However, while shopping at Cotton Basics in Berkeley, my aunt found something she really wanted to buy, but her size/color was only available at the SF store.
So, of course, we jumped in her car and headed into the city after very little deliberation. We beat the clock by 4 minutes and were able to get over the bridge for $4 instead of $6. We went to Whole Foods in Noe Valley first, and to Cotton Basics. Then we had ice cream, then we visited a thrift store in the Mission. We decided to head for the Sunset to end the day with salads at Java Beach Cafe and a brief walk on the beach. It turned out to be a very full but very fun day.
