Read MoreThere is an orange tree right outside my window. I grew up with an orange tree in my front yard (a perfect climbing tree- it was great), so I like having this tree in sight. A couple of months ago it was relatively monochrome as the fruit started to appear and its green color blended right in with the leaves.
Read MoreI find myself running a little behind on blogging lately, so to catch up, I'm starting with the most recent and working my way back.
First up, Beau and Liz! They are adorable as you will see in this post. We spend a lot of Sundays in the city together, and I'm forever snapping photos of them.
Read MoreA couple of Sundays ago I grabbed tacos with Natalie after church. We then roamed around downtown for about an hour taking photos of things and each other. It was super enjoyable, and I was quite happy with some of the shots.
Carefree photo shoots like this one don't happen often enough anymore.
Read MoreFriday night was incredible. I took off work right after lunch and drove to Berkeley, killed some time, and biked to dinner with my lovely friend Micah. After a leisurely outdoor meal (and a basil italian soda) at Elmwood, we walked up to the Greek Theater for a concert.
Read More…which means that there are just three months left in this whole stinkin' year. Can you believe it?!
Around this time last year, I was designing a calendar. It mostly came together in a coffee shop, where I would sip plain coffee across from my friend Meegan. She would be buried under John homework (Bible college, FTW) while I would be thoroughly absorbed in Photoshop. We would occasionally look up and acknowledge each others' existence and comment on the music selection (usually questionable).
Read MoreHere are the promised photos. Photos of people relaxing on a Sunday afternoon. Post-church. Post-fried chicken sandwiches from Beachside. People conversing. Drawing. Reading. Being.
Read MoreA few scenes from one of my favorite houses. Seriously- the light KILLS me, it's so wonderful.
Originally I was going to post these photos as part of a larger post about this past Sunday afternoon. But I realized that they stand alone well, and they also possibly represent my first real (albeit super informal) interior photo shoot.
Read MoreFood52 publishes a weekly post called "A List of Things We Like this Week," #happylist. I always enjoy reading them (because: LISTS <3), and this morning at work I was inspired to make my own list of things that brought me joy this past week (Mon-Sun). The exercise took me less than 5 minutes and did actually make me feel quite happy.
I'm thinking I should make this a new Monday morning habit. What's on your happy list?
Yesterday I rediscovered some snapshots originally taken a few weeks ago. It was almost as good as discovering a forgotten roll of film! Anyways, these were taken on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in the Mission District. Because when you're waiting in line for ice cream, it's a great time to pull out your camera :)
Read MoreHow adorable are these two little lovebirds? I was SO excited (and a little apprehensive) when Keri told me that she and Jared would love for me to take their engagement photos (I've never done these before!). We spent a marvelous Saturday in SF, with them just looking cute and me following them around with a camera.
Read MoreI've been working full-time now for a month plus a few days. It's no joke. The weekend comes and goes before I know it, every week. Today, I woke up two hours later than I have to on weekdays. I drank coffee. I played guitar. I ate waffles. Then I decided to head to Modesto and do fun things I haven't done in a while (and shop at Trader Joe's).
Read MoreThis past Sunday, my brother and I plus our two friends, Liz + Beau, skipped town and traded the valley for a much needed day in the city. It was the most perfect, refreshing day. Here are some scenes :)
Read MoreAlternate title: Scenes from the best Wednesday ever.
The only plans we had were to visit Natural Bridges State Beach, cook our lunch on the beach, get coffee at Verve, and hit up some bookstores. We played the rest by ear and had the best day ever. We left around 9am on Wednesday and didn’t return until nearly 1am on Thursday. This is what it looks like when 5 good friends head for the beach…
Read MoreMy poor little neglected blog. Hello, readers that haven’t given up on me yet! Thanks for sticking around through this unusual season :) Today I’d like to show you a bit of what I’ve been up to lately (since I obviously haven’t been blogging).
Last month I got to work at two weddings in the Bay Area with the best caterers. My main job once dinner rolled around was serving tables, but before that time, I was asked to photograph appetizers and as many other dishes as possible. I felt super honored to be asked to do that, and prayed for good lighting and good photos :) In the end, I was pleased and Gemma & Murray were pleased, plus I had a ton of fun.
Read MoreLast month my Grammy and I sort of repeated a little day trip we took in April, with a few changes:
My brother came along (a welcome addition).
We lunched on fish and chips at Half Moon Bay Brewing Company (thanks for the recommendationNatasha! :)).
We had ice cream at Marianne’s in Santa Cruz (my Grammy has been going there since she was a young girl!).
We extended the drive to include Carmel.
Last Tuesday I introduced my aunt to two of my favorite things: Cheese Board pizza and Bi-Rite ice cream. Originally the plan was just to go to Cheese Board and head home soon after. However, while shopping at Cotton Basics in Berkeley, my aunt found something she really wanted to buy, but her size/color was only available at the SF store.
So, of course, we jumped in her car and headed into the city after very little deliberation. We beat the clock by 4 minutes and were able to get over the bridge for $4 instead of $6. We went to Whole Foods in Noe Valley first, and to Cotton Basics. Then we had ice cream, then we visited a thrift store in the Mission. We decided to head for the Sunset to end the day with salads at Java Beach Cafe and a brief walk on the beach. It turned out to be a very full but very fun day.
Read MoreThis past Sunday morning we headed to the city for church. We were even able to pick up my friend Micah in Berkeley and take her along! Everything was going along so well until we got stuck in traffic on the Bay Bridge due to a big accident. Multiple cars had crashed right at the end of the tunnel, and it took us a little more than one hour to get to that spot.
In the meantime, we chatted, sang songs, and read bumper stickers to pass the time. I was also able to get a photo of the bridge from a different perspective :)
Read MoreOh, Berkeley. I’ve really come to love this place. Up until a few weeks ago, the extent of my encounters with the town amounted to a quick run by the original Peet’s Coffee on the drive home from the City.
